Network-Level Blockers
Filtering happens at the network level and affects all devices connected to that network. It's important to note that network-level blockers don't replace the system-level / browser extension ad blockers mentioned in previous chapters, but complement them. At the network level, only "rough" filtering is possible, meaning various servers can be blocked, but just because you block the advertiser's server, the empty ad space will still remain on the website, which is an aesthetic issue; and the site can also detect that the ad didn't load, and may even ask you to disable the ad blocker.
These problems can only be solved with fine, cosmetic filtering, so on devices - where possible - you should also install system-level or browser extension versions, which can perform these meticulous filtering tasks.
